38. Portable Airlock

In an almost completely dark cabin, Ash is fiddling with some electronics
connected to the wall by a ribbon cable.

Ash stops fiddling with the door. Ember is pulling his uniform out
the mess floating about in their cabin.

Ash and Ember freak out as the door makes mechanical noises.

The door opens to reveal brilliant illumination and Root in a space suit.

38.1 In an almost completely dark cabin, Ash is fiddling with some electronics connected to the wall by a ribbon cable.

Ash: Harr. I think I know why we have failed to open our door…

38.2 Ash stops fiddling with the door. Ember is pulling his uniform out the mess floating about in their cabin.

Ash: … the seals are designed to jam if there is no air on the other side of the door.
Ember: You mean the corridor is open to space? That is not good news.

38.3 Ash and Ember freak out as the door makes mechanical noises.

Ember: We need to find a way to modify a human space suit to——
Ember: Wait! What’s that noise?
Ash: Oh no! Something I tried must have *worked*!
FX: click click whirr

38.4 The door opens to reveal brilliant illumination and Root in a space suit.

Root: Oh, good, you’re safe. I’ve attached a portable airlock to the outside of your door. We’re here to rescue you.

This is Ash. He isn’t really green, it’s just the lighting conditions.

The other guy is called Ember. They are in their cabin on the Prospero. They are bobbing about in midair because the artificial gravity has failed. (It turns out that total power failure is a much better way to cheat on backgrounds than Google Sketchup could ever be.)
