These cargo pods do not match the ones designed to go with the work bees in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. The reason for this is that the work bees in this style are fairly new and the old-style ships like Mumbai still use the old-style cargo containers. You often see this mixture of clunky old equipment that can’t be replaced yet with a few new bits recently added when someone had a brainstorm at the procurement offices.
The Mumbai has more than the usual complement of such equipment because their ongoing mission is repair and maintenance of orbital facilities in systems too small or too poor to be self-sufficient in space technology.
With apologies to Gene Roddenberry and the many professionals and amateurs who have created the Star Trek universe over the years.
