Dev is wearing an EV suit more or less as presented in ‘The Tholian Web’, except I have given them a division colours. My speculation* is that senior officers get to wear the silver suit to stand out in a crowd, but junior officers and other ranks are colour coded.
*In fan fic, speculation is a technical term meaning I made it up.
There is a scene in one of the Trek movies where they grab phasers out of a cupboard in the galley. One reviewer commented that that was surely a dangerous practice, given the notorious volitility of chefs. We also see people visit a room that is the armory. My speculation is that these hatches are actually part of a dumb-waiter system extending throughout the ship. The four-figure code tells the hatch which of the cargo pods to fetch from the armory and plug in to the hatchway.
The fiddly decoration on the scabbard near the hilt is lock holding the sword in place (a kind of futuristic equivalent of peace strings).
